30/220 verses have letter counts = target values (3.18x expected, EQ-INDEPENDENT)
392p = 0.527500 • ♃
30 of 220 verses have letter counts equal to target values — 3.18x the expected rate. Key hits: I:3(“Every man and every woman is a star”)=28=HADIT, I:13(Nuit ecstasy)=56=NUIT, I:66(final verse)=31=AL, II:59=93=THELEMA, III:17=210=NOX, III:59=17=IAO. This is COMPLETELY EQ-INDEPENDENT — pure text structure.

The manuscript’s natural cipher groupings — [4638] [ALGMOR] [X] [RPSTO] [RPSTOVAL] — encode five target values simultaneously: AHIH(21), THERION(348), SHIN(300), ABRAHADABRA(418), RPSTOVAL(455). Zero matches in 200k permutations (p<5e-6). The holograph's physical layout reveals structural encodings invisible in the published spaced-out format.

TOLTORG (Creatures of Fire) = 393 ≠ CIRCLE(284). Original equality claim debunked. TOLTORG=393 itself may still be interesting but not = CIRCLE.

The cipher digits [4,6,3,8,2,4,3,24] used as Liber AL verse indices produce four simultaneous divine encodings: (1) Ch.I first-letter acrostic EBETTEEI=44=44(Blood/DM), (2) Ch.II first-letter acrostic YIIWCYIB=78=78(Tarot count), (3) Ch.I indexed verse word counts sum to 56=NU, (4) Ch.III indexed verse word counts sum to 111=MALKUTH. Nuit’s chapter conceals her child and counts her name; Hadit’s chapter spells his complement; Ra-Hoor-Khuit’s chapter manifests the Kingdom. The cipher is a three-chapter book cipher key.

CIPHER-418 REFERENCE GUIDE
What is the cipher?
Liber AL vel Legis (The Book of the Law), received by Aleister Crowley in Cairo, 1904, contains a cryptographic passage in verse II:76:
4 6 3 8 A B K 2 4 A L G M O R 3 Y X 24 89 R P S T O V A L
— 28 elements (9 numbers + 19 letters) followed by the instruction: “What meaneth this, o prophet? Thou knowest not; nor shalt thou know ever. There cometh one to follow thee: he shall expound it.”
What is EQ (English Qaballa)?
EQ, also called “Solution 34” or ALW cipher, is a letter-value system derived from the cipher itself. Each of the 26 English letters maps to a specific number:
A=1 B=2 C=20 D=3 E=4 F=80 G=7 H=6 I=10 J=10 K=20 L=30 M=40 N=50 O=70 P=80 Q=100 R=200 S=60 T=8 U=6 V=6 W=6 X=300 Y=10 Z=7
Under this system, words and phrases can be “weighed” — and doctrinally significant words consistently produce doctrinally significant numbers.
Target values.
48 numbers with established meaning in Thelemic and Qabalistic tradition serve as benchmarks. Key examples:
28=HADIT, 31=AL (the Book), 34=KEY (the EQ solution itself),
50=MAAT, 81=IAO, 93=THELEMA/AGAPE, 128=NOT,
302=NUMBER, 348=THERION, 418=ABRAHADABRA.
Validation methodology (v3.0).
Findings are validated through a multi-stage pipeline designed to prevent false positives, following McKay & Bar-Natan’s Bible codes debunking methodology:
- Phase 1 — Exploratory. Pattern discovery via automated mining across mathematical operations (cumsums, grids, convolutions, number-theoretic transforms, modular arithmetic, segment reversals, position-weighted sums, etc.). Over 10,000 distinct tests have been run. Hits are recorded but considered exploratory candidates only.
- Phase 2 — Cross-validation. Each candidate is tested against 100+ control texts (shuffled ciphers, random sequences, other esoteric texts) across three target sets (Thelemic, Biblical, Random). This measures position-specificity and target-set preference.
- Westfall-Young MaxT. Family-wise error rate (FWER) correction via 500k permutations across all pre-registered tests simultaneously. Replaces naive Bonferroni. Current result: p = 0.0021 for 9 jointly confirmed findings.
- Perturbation testing. EQ values are perturbed ±1 to check robustness. Findings survive at 78.8%–94.2% rates.
Results are reported as p-values from up to 2M Monte Carlo trials. Findings are tiered using Bonferroni correction against N=10,000 total experiments:
T1-PROVEN = corrected p < 0.05 and passes random-EQ control,
T2-STRONG = corrected p < 0.05 (one battery),
T3-EXPLORATORY = raw p < 0.01 (uncorrected).
Compound findings (stacking multiple weaker conditions) are flagged as derivative — they are informationally redundant with their atomic constituents. Sentence-type findings (multiple targets within a single operation’s cumsum) are additionally checked against base-rate analysis: some transforms produce small values that hit many targets by chance, so we report z-scores against shuffled controls alongside raw p-values.
Global signal.
The cipher hits 34 Thelemic targets (99th percentile vs 100 controls, mean = 13), with 2.6× preference for Thelemic terms over Biblical or random targets. All 9 pre-registered (operation, position, target) triples show 0% false positive rate across controls.
What this research programme does.
We systematically mine the Liber AL cipher through hundreds of mathematical operations — cumsums, grids, convolutions, number-theoretic transforms (Collatz stopping times, Dedekind ψ, Euler totient, sum-of-prime-factors, radical, divisor functions), modular arithmetic, position-weighted sums, segment reversals, autocorrelation — and validate each finding against 100+ controls with family-wise error correction. The goal is to map the cipher’s complete mathematical structure while maintaining rigorous statistical honesty. 893 findings catalogued to date across 48 operation families.
